Over the years, we have discovered a number of pitfalls which have a serious impact on an operation’s results. There are numerous pitfalls – we list some of them here, and can say that everyone benefits if they are eliminated.

  • Lack of clarity in the goals set, in expectations, responsibilities and roles – whether at company, group or individual level
  • Insufficient follow-up and feedback with respect to operations, systems and individuals
  • Failure to implement sanctions when promises are not kept or when goals and results are not achieved – applies to whole units and groups, as well as to individuals.
  • Endless discussions about analysis and decisions, partly from fear that things will not turn out correctly, which only result in delayed action. While this process is going on, things are moving on in the rest of the world and in the market. The formula tends to be 80/20, i.e. 80% analysis and 20% decision making and action. The aim should be to switch this to 20/80, and to adopt a thorough and active approach to evaluation and corrective action.
